| Latin America
Global Industries first established a Latin American presence in 1999 while working in Venezuela. Since that time, Global has expanded its presence there while continuing to explore other opportunities in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Trinidad, and Tobago.
Global used the successful business model it created in Mexico to pursue opportunities in these other Latin American markets. As a result, in 2006 Global Industries Brasil was awarded a contract by Petrobras, Brazil’s national oil company, to install the 24-inch Camarupim gas line in the Espírito Santo Basin offshore Brazil.
The Camarupim Project, valued at approximately $165 million, included project planning, detailed engineering, and installation of 52 km of pipeline, fabrication and installation of the pipeline end manifold (PLEM) and tie-in spool. The offshore installation was performed by the Global pipelay barge Iroquois and the Normand Commander.
Global Industries Brasil now has a large office in Rio de Janeiro to service the customers in the region.
