Global Offshore Mexico is located in Ciudad del Carmen, a support community for the offshore infrastructure in the Bay of Campeche.
Global Industries began operating in Mexico more than a decade ago as a pipeline installation contractor in the Bay of Campeche after entering into a joint venture with a Mexican construction company. Dissolving the joint venture in June, 1999, Global acquired the assets and formed a wholly owned subsidiary, Global Offshore Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V. Now, a decade later, Global’s strong presence in Mexico includes approximately 250 technical, professional, and administrative employees specializing in the construction of offshore pipelines, a shore base and office facilities, warehouse/workshop facility adjacent to the office, and a dock with warehousing/work shop capabilities. Depending on the number of jobs we are working on, Global has had as many as 600 offshore employees at any given time.
Global has successfully integrated its offshore Mexico organization with those of the local community, utilizing local content and talent wherever possible.
Global Offshore Mexico has completed significant projects for PEMEX. The projects were primarily concentrated in the Cantarell Field in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico’s largest source of crude oil and one of the world’s largest fields. More recently, PEMEX has been focusing its efforts on the development of the Ku-Maloob-Zaap complex in order to maintain heavy crude production in the Bay of Campeche. As PEMEX’s solutions provider of choice, Global was tapped for two important projects. The Ku-G project involved installation of critical infrastructure designed to consolidate and raise the field’s production from 300,000 to 800,000 barrels of crude oil per day and feed the third largest Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) in the world. The Ku-G project was a model of safety and productivity. The Global team worked more than 3 million manhours without incident on this complex project.
Also in the Cantarell Field, Global was selected by PEMEX for the Akal-GR pipeline installation. The project called for the installation, tie-in, and commissioning of two 36-inch pipelines.
